Accountant


The Accountant role is a temporary backfill position to ensure continuity and stability in accounting operations during the ERP implementation period at the Luxembourg Institute of Health.

Reporting to the Head of Accounting, the Accountant should have an in-depth knowledge of the following areas:

  • Accounts payable, accounts receivable, Luxembourg payroll accounting;
  • Fixed-assets and grants (external research funding);
  • VAT;
  • Solid knowledge of LUX Gaap accounting principles;
  • Analytical Accounting;
  • Cash Management.

Key Accountabilities

The Accountant will initially manage:

  • Customer invoicing;
  • Customer reminders;
  • Supplier invoices : checking and posting documents;
  • Expenses reports : checking and posting documents;
  • Preparation of the bi-monthly payments process;
  • Aged trial balances analysis and follow-up fixed assets accounting;
  • Prepaid charges;
  • Analytical maintenance of the LIH accounts;
  • Support the preparation of VAT declarations;
  • Support the reconciliation and analysis of balance sheet accounts;
  • Support the preparation of legal reporting and the annual accounts of the Institute.

The Accountant will also be:

  • The point of contact for projects and statutory audit areas falling within their area of responsibility.

Key Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • Higher education in accounting (Bac+3);
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Luxembourg, ideally within a public and/or research institution;
  • Demonstrated experience in managing general and analytical accounting; experience with external funding (e.g. FNR, European Commission, charity) is an asset;
  • Excellent command of accounting standards and principles, as well as VAT;
  • Familiar with one or more accounting software (ERP); Odoo experience is a strong asset;
  • Proficiency in MS Office tools, especially Excel (advanced level);
  • You are autonomous, methodical, and rigorous;
  • Good deadline management:
  • You are curious and proactive;
  • You enjoy working in a team and willingly help your colleagues;
  • Flexible, you adapt your schedule according to the needs of the department;
  • Language skills: Perfect command of French and English, both orally and in writing.
