Translational & Clinical Immunology
The Translational and Clinical Immunology group aims to discover novel molecular and cellular intervention candidates and identify diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers for non-communicable complex diseases and infectious diseases, by integrating both pre-clinical animal models and human samples from cohorts and clinical trials. The overall research topics of the group are divided into the following specific themes:
- Identify novel mechanisms leading to immune tolerance through allergen-specific immunotherapies used for treating various allergic diseases (led by Prof. Markus Ollert).
- Investigate the potential links between acute viral infection, host immune dysregulations and the subsequent development of autoimmune, allergic and neurological disorders (led by Prof. Markus Ollert).
- Identify the molecular mechanisms underlying the immune ageing process and their implementation in ageing-associated diseases (led by Dr. Feng Hefeng).
- Develop and apply cutting-edge deep immunophenotyping strategies to enhance the understanding of immune dysregulations in various complex and infectious diseases (led by Dr. Feng Hefeng).
