Technical Expert in Cancer Metabolism

In recent years, we have revealed that the small metabolite formate promotes cancer cell invasion and metastasis. We know today that formate concentrations within the tumor microenvironment are often increased providing a pro-metastatic environment. To continue in unravelling the role of formate in context of cancer metastasis we are seeking a skilled and experienced technical assistant, initially for 9 months with possibilities of extension.

The successful candidate will be embedded in a state-of-the-art laboratory at the Department of Cancer Research (~ 90 members). The Meiser lab currently consists of 2 PhD students, one lab manager, one technician, four Postdoctoral fellows and an adjunct in-house Mass Spectrometry platform.

Key Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • Successful Master in the area of biology
  • Knowledge and keen interest in mammalian metabolism 
  • Hands-on experience in experimental lab work (cytometry, Western Blot etc)
  • Strong expertise in molecular biology
  • Experience with 3D models and mouse models (xenograft models)
  • Open minded, pro-active and curious person, willing to work in a collaborative team

Envisaged start date is August 2024.
