To be part of the Cancer Epidemiology and Prevention Team (EPICAN) within the Public Health Expertise Unit (PHE) at Department of Precision Health (DoPH) at the LIH.
Background: Population-based cancer registries (PBCR) are essential for cancer surveillance, research, and the evaluation of cancer prevention and control efforts. PBCR contribute to policy formulation and screening programs by linking and harmonizing data from multiple sources. The National Cancer Registry (RNC), supported by the National Cancer Plan (PNC2), aims to explore the linkage of RNC data with secondary sources like biobank, genomic datasets and socioeconomic data.
Objectives: The “RELIANCE: REaL-life cANCEr epidemiology research” initiative is a research project analyzing high-resolution cancer registry data and exploring linkages with data sources. The goals include identifying factors relevant to translational cancer research and setting key priorities and strategies. This interdisciplinary project has significant implications for national policy (PNC2) and international research, focusing on using health data to improve patient outcomes.
Training and research environment: EPICAN is a dynamic, multidisciplinary and international team within the Department of Precision Health. RELIANCE study is an initiative of EPICAN (Epidemiology and Prevention Research Group), and has close and active relationships with key national stakeholders including policy makers, clinicians and researchers. The team works at the intersection of research and cancer epidemiology with a focus on translation aspects to improve population health.
