Strategic Advisor to the CEO and Deputy CEO


The Strategic Advisor (SA) to the CEO and deputy CEO is a highly skilled and organized individual who acts as the interface between the research and administrative departments and serves as the link to external collaborative partners. His/Her role involves a blend of administrative, organizational, communication responsibilities and a solid background in biomedical research or a related field. Thanks to his/her broad overview of the entire organization as well as of the national and international research landscape, the Strategic Advisor plays a crucial role in supporting the efficient functioning of the leadership team.

Key Accountabilities

  • Serving as a point of contact for substantive questions directed to the CEO/Deputy CEO, and facilitating information exchange;
  • Collaborating closely with the Science Office and the scientific leaders of the institute, developing strategy and position papers together; 
  • Preparing content for presentations, written correspondence and coordinating meetings with internal and external stakeholders; 
  • Participating in internal events at the institute, rapidly familiarizing oneself with its content focus, and effectively representing it in both writing and speech; 
  • Working in a strongly project-oriented manner, supporting the CEO/Deputy CEO in coordinating and preparing applications for strategic projects and collaborations, as well as in their implementation
  • Coordinating strategic projects, taking responsibility for specific topics, and independently researching content 

Key Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • PhD degree in an area relevant to biomedical research or a related discipline;
  • Experience in research and project management, project monitoring, budget management, editing of activity reports;
  • Excellent command of English (written and spoken) and fluent in French and/or German;
  • Ability to present solutions involving complex data after thorough analysis;
  • Able to build good relationship with various stakeholders, showing great communication skills;
  • Adaptable, problem-solving, able to multi-task and to deal with fast-changing schedules;
  • Strong commitment to maintaining confidentiality when handling sensitive information and to ethical guidelines;
  • Team-oriented, diplomatic & able to work in a multidisciplinary and multicultural environment;
  • Welcoming and service oriented attitude
