Workshop on vector-borne diseases in Luxembourg

30 July 2025 1minute

The teams of Dr Christiane Hilger and Dr Judith Hübschen participated in the “Workshop sur les maladies vectorielles au Luxembourg” organized by the Direction de la Santé at the Centre Hospitalier de Luxembourg on May 14.

The half-day workshop targeting medical doctors comprised information and interactive sessions. The team of Dr Hilger, including Julie Petry and Kyra Swiontek, presented a poster on the FNR-funded ImmunoGal project and quizzed the doctors about alpha-gal syndrome induced by ticks. The team of Dr Hübschen, including Chantal Snoeck and Aleksandra Krawczyk, presented posters on their surveillance activities on tick- and mosquito-borne diseases in Luxembourg in the context of the Zoonotic Viruses and the EU-funded OH4Surveillance projects. They quizzed the doctors about the eco-epidemiology of ticks and zoonotic viruses and showed various tick species under a microscope to facilitate discussion with the participants.
