BACKGROUND
Researchers in the Public Health Expertise Unit of the Department of Precision Health (DoPH/PHE) at the Luxembourg Institute of Health (LIH) have embarked on a new research project RELIANCE – Breast Cancer: “REaL-life cANCEr epidemiology to identify risk factors for Breast Cancer with particular focus on prevention and care”. The pluridisciplinary research team is led by Claudine Backes, PhD, Scientific Director of the National Cancer Registry of Luxembourg (Registre National du Cancer (RNC)) and head of the Cancer and Prevention Epidemiology Group (EPI Can) at the LIH. Project partners include the Luxembourg Institute of Socio-Economic Research (LISER) and the Occupational Health Institute (Service de santé au Travail Multisectoriel (STM).
The RELIANCE – Breast Cancer population-based research pilot study is evaluating breast cancer epidemiology in Luxembourg for the first time using longitudinal data from the RNC. The study will investigate a range of research questions using RNC breast cancer data and explore potential secondary data linkages.
RELIANCE – Breast Cancer study is under the umbrella of the “Plan National Cancer 2020-2024” (PNC2) and is funded by the Directorate of Health (DiSa) of the Ministry of Health (MiSa) as part of the PNC2. The DoPH/PHE at the LIH is responsible for the study design and implementation in operational collaboration with STM for the second part of the study.
In the context of this project, we are recruiting a Master Student.
