Please note that:

  • We will begin reviewing applications immediately upon receipt, and will continue to do so on a rolling basis until the position is closed;
  • The student must be regularly enrolled at a university or higher education institution, and the internship must be a mandatory component of their program of study;
  • The compensation for this internship is 832€/month + lunch vouchers.

Background

The Cytoskeleton and Cancer Progression (CCP) research group, led by Dr. Clément Thomas, investigates how the actin cytoskeleton in tumor cells contributes to resistance against immune attack. Our ultimate goal is to uncover novel therapeutic targets that can enhance the efficacy of anticancer immunotherapies.

A major barrier to effective immunotherapy is tumor immune evasion. We have recently identified a critical role for actin remodeling in tumor cell resistance at the immunological synapse, the dynamic interface between cytotoxic lymphocytes and cancer cells. Our group applies high-resolution live-cell imaging and quantitative microscopy to dissect these mechanisms at the molecular level.

We are offering a 6-month full-time internship for a highly motivated second-year Master’s student (M2) to join our team and contribute to ongoing research projects.

Key Accountabilities

  • Acquire technical and theoretical knowledge through close supervision and training;
  • Perform cell culture and image-based experiments related to tumor-immune cell interactions;
  • Analyze data and contribute to the interpretation and presentation of results;
  • Maintain accurate and well-organized experimental records;
  • Participate in lab meetings and scientific discussions.

Key Skills, Experience & Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • Enrolled in a Master’s programme (M2) in biology, immunology, oncology, or a closely related discipline;
  • Internship must be a formal requirement of the Master’s degree;
  • Previous hands-on laboratory experience in tumor immunology or cancer biology, including work with tumor cell models and cytotoxic lymphocytes, is strongly preferred.

Technical Skills:

  • Solid foundational knowledge of tumor immunology and cancer biology;
  • Knowledge of cell biology techniques, such as microscopy and flow cytometry;
  • Practical experience with cell culture and tumor cell/immune cell co-culture experiments is highly desirable.

Soft Skills:

  • High level of motivation, scientific curiosity, and attention to detail;
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks;
  • Ability to work both independently/autonomously and collaboratively in a research setting;
  • Fluency in spoken and written English.
