ACADI research group receives generous donation from Cargolux

The Luxembourg Institute of Health (LIH) is pleased to announce that its Ageing, Cancer, and Disparities (ACADI) research group has received a €7,500 donation from Cargolux as part of the company’s annual year-end initiative “One Evening for All.” The event, held on 19 November at the Museum Dräi Eechelen in Kirchberg, brings together art and advocacy to highlight and support meaningful causes.
In alignment with Pink October and Movember, Cargolux selected LIH to support research focused on breast, prostate and testicular cancer. During the evening, the company presented the partner organisations chosen for this year’s initiative and held a formal cheque handover ceremony.
LIH was represented by Dr India Pinker from the ACADI research group, who accepted the donation on behalf of the team and provided insight into their ongoing cancer research, and Dr Lars Geffers, Head of Science Operations, who attended the event to highlight LIH’s broader commitment to impactful biomedical research.
The Ageing, Cancer, and Disparities (ACADI) research unit works to develop meaningful, evidence-based improvements in cancer care for and with those affected by cancer in Luxembourg, with a focus on older adults. The donation will help advance ongoing research initiatives, including the participatory action research study TDM-Café, funded by ThinkPink Luxembourg. TDM-Café brings together older adults who have experienced cancer, their families, caregivers, and healthcare professionals to identify what matters most in treatment decision-making, co-design research priorities that reflect their needs, and guide the implementation of existing research into practice.
We are truly honoured by Cargolux’s support. This donation directly strengthens our ability to extend the reach of our research and to support improvements in cancer care that reflect the needs and experiences of everyone affected by cancer. We deeply appreciate this recognition of our work”
said Dr Pinker.
LIH warmly thanks Cargolux for its commitment and generous contribution, which will directly support ongoing research efforts aimed at improving cancer prevention, diagnosis and treatment for patients in Luxembourg and beyond.
