Within the Department of Population Health, Dr. Torsten Bohn, Head of a newly formed group around Food, Diet, Nutrition & Health (NUTRIHEALTH), aims, in collaboration with his Team, to explore the relation of dietary patterns, nutrient composition and chronic disease aspects with a focus on cardiometabolic health and associated innovative biomarkers of disease and health such as oxidative stress, body composition, micornutrients and phytochemicals. A close collaboration with the other departmental teams around environmental pollution, physical activity, and e-health is envisioned.

For a project related to diet and cardiometabolic health, we are offering a 6 months paid Master (2)-Student internship at our premesis.

The main tasks of the Master Student will be to work on analyzing data and writing articles related to dietary quality indicators (e.g. Healthy Eating Index) and cardiometabolic health, based on epidemiological data collected in Luxembourg. In the frame of this work, the Master student will benefit from the expertise of  Dr. Torsten Bohn in nutrition and health, and Dr. Farhad Vahid in nutritional epidemiology. Statistical support in-house is available.

Main activities
  • Writing a high-level scientific paper

  • Discuss results within group & other researchers;

  • Interpret findings statistically;

  • Participate in project meetings & organization;

  • Give presentations at local institute level;

  • Join other group-based activities.

Required profile
  • Master (2) in Nutrition, Nutritional Epidemiology, Public; Health  or Bio-informatics with a focus on Diet & Health, or comparable;

  • The internship should be a mandatory part of the diploma.

  • Some experience in working on large datasets;

  • Good statistical knowledge and hands-on experience with statistical programs (e.g. SPSS, R, and/or SAS…);

  • Good writing skills in English;

  • Good organizational skills.
