Xpose DTU hosts first successful retreat!

The XPOSE Doctoral Training Unit (Xpose DTU) organised its first retreat, which took place at the Parc Hotel Alvisse On February 9th and 10th , bringing together doctoral students, members of the programme committee, as well as renowned international experts in the field of exposome research who delivered three inspiring keynote lectures.


Notably, Prof Roel Vermuelen, Professor of Environmental Epidemiology and Exposome Science at Utrecht University and University Medical Center Utrecht (UMCU) and one of the researchers who developed the concept of exposome, talked about the past, present, and future of exposome research in a lecture titled “Everything, Everywhere, All at once: The Omnipresent Exposome’s Role in Shaping Health”.

Dr Tom Russ from the University of Edinburgh explored the link between air pollution and brain health in his talk “Air pollution and the brain – same old, same old?”.

Dr Francesca Romana Mancini, leader of the Nutrition and Dietary Exposures research group at the Centre for Epidemiology and Population Health of INSERM, gave a lecture on the exploration of the exposome through cohort studies such as E3N-Générations.

Moreover, the retreat included pitch presentations of the PhD projects, followed by an interactive poster session, as well as workshops on science writing, tips and tricks for oral presentations, and defining the common values of the Xpose community.

The Xpose DTU is funded by the Luxembourg National Research Fund (FNR) with the support of the LIH, Luxembourg Institute of Socio-Economic Research (LISER), and the Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine (LCSB) of the University of Luxembourg.
