New LIH-led Lecture Series Funded by the FNR

We are happy to announce five stimulating lecture series hosted by LIH PIs starting this fall and continuing until the end of next year.

From September until August of next year, Dr. Mahesh Desai, Leader of the Nutrition, Microbiome, & Immunity Group, will invite speakers from the University of Luxembourg and the LIST to share insights on “Pathogenesis in the age of the microbiome.” This lecture series is part of the MICRO-PATH DTU, jointly coordinated by the LIH & the University with the LIST as a partner.

From early October until mid-July next year, Dr. Sophie Pilleron, Head of the Ageing, Cancer, & Disparities Research Unit (ACADI), along with partners from the University of Luxembourg and LISER, will host lectures dedicated to “Causal Inference methods for real-world data.

In November, Dr. Gunnar Dittmar, Leader of the Proteomics of Cellular Signaling group, will launch the “Omics Meets Physics” lecture series with local partners from the LCSB, University of Luxembourg, as well as international speakers from the United States, Germany, France, and others.

In January 2026, Dr. Bassam Janji, Leader of the Tumor Immunotherapy & Microenvironment(TIME) group, will inaugurate the 7th annual lecture series on Cancer Research. He will be joined by Dr. Johannes Meiser, head of the Dept. of Cancer Research, along with partners from the University of Luxembourg as well as a series of international speakers.

Finally, starting in October 2026, Dr. Claudine Backes, Leader of the Cancer, Epidemiology & Prevention group, along with Dr. Allini Mafra Da Costa, Dr. Jason Settels, and the support of National Cancer Registry (RNC), will welcome external speakers presenting on the topic of “Epidemiology & Prevention” in the cancer domain.

All of these lecture series are funded by the FNR and anyone is free to join. The posters advertising the individual lecture series will be published soon. See you there!
