ORISCAV-LUX
ORISCAV-LUX (Observation des Risques et de la Santé Cardio-Vasculaire au Luxembourg = Observation of Cardiovascular Risks and Health in Luxembourg) was the first nationwide epidemiological study aimed at establishing an objective picture of the prevalence of lifestyle-related risk factors for cardiovascular disease in the general population residing in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. The study made it possible to conduct epidemiologic research and describe major traditional and emerging cardiovascular risk factors and associated conditions, such as diabetes, hypertension, lipid disorders and their evolution between 2008 and 2018. The ORISCAV-LUX project was designed as a public health tool enabling epidemiologic research in Luxembourg and providing the authorities with reliable statistics on the health of the population residing in Luxembourg, in order to determine the prevention program best suited to actual needs.
The ORISCAV-LUX study was carried out by the Luxembourg Institute of Health (LIH) within the Department of Precision Health in 2007–2009 (Wave 1, 1432 participants) and in 2016-2018 (Wave 2, 1558 participants. It was co-financed by the Luxembourg Ministry of Health and the Luxembourg Ministry of Research.
