Post-Doctoral Fellow in Analytical Chemistry for the Assessment of Wild Fauna Exposure to Pesticides in a One Health Context

The Human Biomonitoring Research Unit (HBRU) is specialized in the assessment of human exposure to pollutants, the identification of determinants of exposure, and the study of exposure-associated health outcomes. Research activities primarily rely on human subjects within epidemiological studies, and extends to the application of human biomonitoring approaches to animal (laboratory and wild fauna). The laboratory is equipped with up-to-date analytical equipment mainly consisting of CG-MS/MS and LC-MS/MS.

The successful candidate will join an exciting pioneering project on the environmental contamination of wild mammals by plant protection products. The candidate’s primary responsibility is to conduct analytical development based on methodologies already available in the lab, and to deliver a fully validated multi-residue method to detect chemicals in the fur of different mammal species using both LC-MS/MS and GC-MS/MS. This method development work forms the foundation of a broader project, aiming at understanding mechanisms and interactions underlying environmental contamination and transfer to animals and humans within a unique integrated One Health perspective.
