Master's Intership Position in nutrition, dietary exposures, and chronic disease outcomes


Within the Department of Population Health, Dr. Torsten Bohn, Head of the Nutrition & Health Research Group (NUTRIHEALTH), aims to explore nutrition, dietary exposures, and chronic disease outcomes, with a special focus on cardiometabolic health and type 2 diabetes within the framework of an ongoing PhD project.
We are offering a 6 months paid Master (2)-Student internship at our premesis. This internship should be part of the mandatory curriculum of the student.
The intern will be involved in a research project focused on the intersection of nutrition, environmental exposures, and cardiometabolic health. Their work will primarily involve handling and analyzing data from a large epidemiological cohort, including preparation of datasets, conducting statistical analyses, and interpreting results. The intern will also contribute to literature reviews, assist in the development of figures and tables, and support the writing of scientific outputs. Depending on the progress of the work, participation in a peer-reviewed publication is expected. In the frame of this work, the Master student will benefit from the expertise of Dr. Torsten Bohn and other team members in nutrition and health domain.


Main activities

  • Participate in a research project related to nutrition, dietary exposures, and cardiometabolic health
  • Prepare, clean, and manage epidemiological data from a multi-country cohort study
  • Conduct statistical analyses using appropriate software (SPSS, R…)
  • Perform literature reviews to support the research context and interpretation of findings
  • Assist in the development of scientific tables, figures, and summaries
  • Contribute to the writing of research outputs,
  • Give presentations at local institute level;
  • Join other group-based activities.


Required profile

  • Currently enrolled in a Master 2 program in Public Health, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Nutrition, Environmental Health, or a related field
  • Strong analytical skills and experience with statistical software
  • Prior experience working with epidemiological or large datasets is an asset
  • Good scientific writing and communication skills in English
  • Good organizational skills;
  • Motivated, organized, and able to work both independently and as part of a team
