
CAROFIBER – Interactions of Carotenoids and Dietary Fiber

What is the CAROFIBER study?
Carotenoids are natural compounds responsible for the bright colours of numerous fruits and vegetables. They are associated with several positive health effects and we’re trying to learn more! The NutriHealth Group at the Luxembourg Institute of Health (LIH) is recruiting volunteers for the CAROFIBER Study.

Eligibility:
- Healthy Women and Men
- Aged 20 – 50 years
- Non-smokers
- Normal weight or overweight
- Pregnant women are not eligible
- No allergies or intolerance to:
- Peanuts
- Gluten/wheat
- Dairy
- Carrots
- Tomatoes
- Citrus fruits
Your participation includes:

1 Hour examination
(Screening + baseline visit):
- Height, weight & body composition analysis
- Blood pressure & heart rate
- Fasting blood sample collection
- Health & dietary questionnaires
- Urine quick test
- A single blood draw

Main Trial Phase
- Three full day study visits over 4 weeks (from 07:30 to 18:30)
at our clinic close to Centre Hospitalier de Luxembourg - Carotenoid and dietary fibre rich test
meals provided for breakfast, lunch and snacks - Periodic blood draws throughout the day
(at the start, then at intervals up to 10 hours) - Follow low carotenoid diet for 4 weeks
Compensation
Participants will receive a 100 € Belle Étoile voucher at each full-day study visit. By completing all three visits, volunteers will receive a total of 300 € in Belle Étoile coupons as compensation for their time and effort.
