29 June 2026 2minutes

The Molecular and Translational Allergology team from the Luxembourg Institute of Health (LIH), Department of Infection and Immunity actively participated in the EAACI Congress 2026, held in Istanbul on June 12-15, 2026, showcasing their latest research in the field of allergology. The conference was attended by more than 7000 attendants from all parts of the world, emphasizing the importance of allergic diseases in the medical and research field.

Dr. Christiane Hilger, co-Group Leader of the Molecular and Translational Allergology (MTA) Group, participated actively in the congress by chairing several poster and presentation sessions, and contributing to strategic EAACI task force sessions.

PhD student Rebecca Klapp presented her work on sensitization patterns in patients with allergies to furry animals, providing valuable insights into IgE profiles and symptom responses in a flashtalk presentation during a session on Molecular Allergology.

Postdoctoral fellow Dr. Julie Petry shared her research on residual host blood proteins in Ixodes ricinus ticks as a potential source of alpha-Gal, contributing to a better understanding of mechanisms underlying alpha-Gal syndrome, at the thematic poster session on environmental allergies, climate change and one health, for which she received an outstanding poster presentation award. Congratulations Julie!
