Post-Doctoral Fellow in AI-based Multimodal Integration

The Luxembourg Institute of Health (LIH) is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher with expertise in AI, deep learning, and multimodal data integration. You will play a central role in developing and applying advanced AI-based computational methods and foundation models to integrate multi-omics and other complex biomedical datasets from large cohort studies, with a primary focus on cancer, immunological diseases, and neurodegenerative disorders.

Key Accountabilities

• Integrative Data Analysis: Lead and participate in the analysis and integration of large-scale multi-omics and multimodal datasets, including RNA/DNA sequencing, methylation, and metabolomics, leveraging machine learning and deep learning approaches.
• Method Development: Design, implement, and evaluate novel AI and deep learning models, including foundation models and multimodal architectures, for complex biological data.
• Collaborative Research: Work closely with various research groups to implement a variety of views.
• Dissemination: Lead and participate in the dissemination of the results through visualizations, publications and presentations.

Key Skills, Experience and Qualifications

• Education: PhD in Computer Science, Data Science, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field.
• Technical Proficiency: Strong command of Python and proficiency with deep learning frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow). Proven ability to run and manage computational workflows and scripts on Linux-based HPC environments.  Knowledge of R is considered an asset.
• Multimodal / Multi-Omics Expertise: Experience in integrating diverse datasets (preferably multi-omics, clinical, or other biomedical data, e.g. images) using machine learning or deep learning methods.
• Deep Learning Expertise: Solid understanding of foundation models, representation learning, and/or graph neural networks.
• Communication: Excellent verbal and written English skills.
• Mindset: Motivated, collaborative mentality with close attention to detail and a strong sense of responsibility.
