2 Master’s Internships in Public Health / Psychology / Nursing – French and/or German Speaking

• The students must be regularly enrolled at a university or higher education institution, and the internship must be a mandatory component of their program of study;
• The compensation for this internship is 832€/month + lunch vouchers.

Please note that the internship is expected to start between February and March 2027.

Background

Within the Department of Precision Health, the Ageing, Cancer and Disparities Research Unit (ACADI) aims to investigate key moments in the cancer pathway where inequalities are likely to occur, namely pre-diagnosis, treatment decision-making, and active treatment, and propose recommendations and interventions.

The ACADI team has recently been commissioned by the Direction de la Santé to run a project investigating the factors that influence how benzodiazepines are prescribed, used, and discontinued. The project will gather insights from patients and prescribers on current risk management measures, with the aim of informing future awareness campaigns and communication strategies that promote appropriate use of these medicines. For the qualitative components of this project, we are offering two 6-month Master's Internships.

The main tasks will involve conducting and transcribing interviews, with one Master’s student focusing on current and former benzodiazepine users, and the other focusing on healthcare professionals who prescribe benzodiazepines and Z-drugs.

As part of this work, the Master’s students will benefit from the expertise of Dr India Pinker in health psychology and Dr Sophie Pilleron in epidemiology.

Key Accountabilities

• Advertising the study;
• Conducting interviews;
• Discussing results within the group and with other researchers;
• Interpreting findings;
• Participating in project meetings and organisational activities;
• Taking part in other group-based activities;
• Contributing to the co-writing of a scientific paper.

Key Skills & Qualifications

• Master’s student in, but not limited to, Public Health, Psychology, Nursing, or Social Sciences.
• Some experience or basic training in qualitative research.
• Comfortable speaking English, with good written English skills.
• Able to conduct interviews in French or German.
  • Additional language skills in French, German, Luxembourgish, or Portuguese are an asset.
• Good organisational skills.
• Highly motivated and disciplined, with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
