More than 130 researchers, clinicians and industry experts from 35 countries came to Luxembourg at the end of June for two landmark events in vocal biomarker research: the inaugural International Vocal Biomarkers Conference (IVBC 2026) and the first eVoiceNet Training School. Organised by eVoiceNet and hosted by the Luxembourg Institute of Health (LIH), the events brought together the international community to exchange knowledge, strengthen collaborations and help shape the future of voice-based healthcare.

Held on 29 and 30 June, IVBC 2026 was the first international conference dedicated entirely to vocal biomarkers. The programme featured keynote lectures, scientific presentations and panel discussions covering topics such as artificial intelligence, speech processing, digital phenotyping, clinical validation, ethics and data governance. The conference also served as the first annual meeting of eVoiceNet, giving members the opportunity to meet face to face, share progress across the network’s working groups and explore new opportunities for collaboration.

The following day, the LIH welcomed students and early career researchers for the first eVoiceNet Training School. Through expert lectures, interactive workshops and a design thinking challenge, participants gained practical insights into vocal biomarker research while working together to develop innovative ideas for future healthcare applications. The event also provided valuable networking opportunities with leading researchers from across Europe.

These events show the incredible momentum building around vocal biomarkers,” said Dr Guy Fagherazzi, Director of the Department of Precision Health at the LIH and Chair of eVoiceNet. “By bringing together experts from different fields and supporting the next generation of researchers, we are building the collaborations needed to turn promising research into healthcare solutions that can make a real difference for patients.

Together, the conference and training school marked an important milestone for the rapidly growing vocal biomarker community and reinforced Luxembourg’s role as a hub for international collaboration in digital health research.
