LIH marks 10 years of scientific innovation and collaboration with an Anniversary Gala.
On 12 June 2025, the Luxembourg Institute of Health (LIH) celebrated a major milestone—its 10-Year Anniversary Gala—with a grand event held at the Grand Auditoire, Maison du Savoir in Belval. Running from 2:00 to 6:00 pm, the afternoon brought together around 450 attendees, including partners, stakeholders, researchers, and policymakers, in a celebration of scientific excellence and innovation under the theme: “A Decade of Breakthroughs.”
Moderated by Nico Thielen, the event opened with a powerful video presentation, “The Engine of Precision Health”, setting the tone for the first session. This was followed by inspiring welcome speeches from:
Session 2, titled “Where do we come from”, revisited LIH’s research journey, highlighting work in immune health, cancer research, and clinical research integration. Researchers including Markus Ollert, Dirk Brenner, Johannes Meiser, Rejko Krüger, and others shared compelling insights into their contributions.
Session 3 turned the spotlight toward future ambitions. Presentations from experts such as Guy Fagherazzi, Jasmin Schulz, and Christof Von Kalle outlined emerging strategies in disease prevention, federated data spaces, and cross-border digital medicine.
The highlight of the afternoon was the expert panel discussion, “From Breakthroughs to Impact: Shaping the Future of Health Research”. Two panels addressed:
Lively Q&A sessions underscored the audience’s engagement and the growing relevance of LIH’s work.
The event concluded with heartfelt closing remarks by Dr Ulf Nehrbass and a reflective video titled “Life at LIH.” Guests then enjoyed a cocktail reception and networking session, celebrating not just a decade of success, but a strong and collaborative path forward.
A sincere thank you goes to all LIH staff—past and present—whose hard work, dedication, and innovation have shaped our journey and made this milestone possible.
