Post-Doctoral Fellow in Biomonitoring of Human Exposure to Carcinogenic Pollutants

The Human Biomonitoring Research Unit (HBRU) is specialized in the assessment of human exposure to pollutants and the study of exposure-associated health outcomes. Research activities rely on both animal experimentation and human subjects within epidemiological studies. The laboratory is equipped with up-to-date analytical equipment mainly consisting of CG-MS/MS and UHPLC-MS/MS.
The successful candidate will be involved in a research project focused on the exposure to carcinogenic chemicals in the general population, using a multi-matrix approach.  The main analytical work will involve the application of GC- and LC-MS/MS based methods for the analysis of these carcinogenic pollutants/metabolites from different chemical classes in hair, blood and urine samples.  The study will also involve conducting a pilot temporal and regional assessment of exposure dynamics. The candidate will also investigate the statistical associations between carcinogens concentration in the different biological matrices and possible sources of exposure.

Key Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • PhD in the field of Analytical chemistry/toxicology.
  • High technical skills in analytical chemistry applied to the detection of chemicals in biological matrices.
  • Knowledge in the field of human exposure to pollutants.
