Abstract

Global cancer statistics are disseminated by the
International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) as per
its mandate as the specialized cancer agency of the World
Health Organization (WHO). These statistics serve to
inform our understanding the global and regional burden
of cancer and are a critical resource in developing and
prioritising effective cancer control policies. The methods
of estimation for GLOBOCAN are conducted using the
most valid data available on cancer incidence and
mortality at national and subnational levels. The
estimates are made available at IARC’s Global Cancer
Observatory (GCO).
