Scientists at the Department of Infection and Immunity of the Luxembourg Institute of Health (LIH) revealed a novel mechanism through which the immune system can control autoimmunity and cancer.

On Monday 4th May 2020, the Luxembourg Institute of Health (LIH) had the honor of welcoming Their Royal Highnesses the Grand Duke and the Grand Duchess of Luxembourg into the laboratories of the House of BioHealth in Esch- sur-Alzette.

The first of a total of 60 patients from Luxembourg foreseen to take part in the European clinical trial “Discovery” was recruited today at the Centre Hospitalier de Luxembourg (CHL).

As part of its exit strategy, the Luxembourg government can count on the support of Luxembourg research, namely the Research Luxembourg COVID-19 Task Force.

On Monday, April 27th, the first PhD defence under the CANBIO doctoral research and training programme took place at the premises of the University of Luxembourg in Belval.

The Research Luxembourg COVID-19 task force announces the start of “Predi-COVID ”, a study that aims to identify important risk factors and biomarkers associated with COVID-19 severity and long-term health consequences of the disease in Luxembourg.

André Losch Fondation announced its participation in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic by supporting Research Luxembourg with one of its most significant donations yet. The foundation’s commitment of 1,4 million euros will help financing three COVID-19 studies currently underway in Luxembourg: the CON-VINCE study, aiming to evaluate the dynamics of the spread of the disease within Luxembourg; the Predi-COVID study, dedicated to finding predictive markers for disease severity; and a study that develops statistical projections and modelling of the epidemic. On top of this André Losch Fondation will also provide financing for four vans that will allow nurses to collect tissue samples of study participants, thereby sparing them a trip to the hospital.
