Project Manager TTM - RK1020

The Transversal Translational Medicine (TTM) led by Prof Rejko Krueger, creates a translational bridge between fundamental research and the clinic so that prevention, diagnosis and therapy may help patients in Luxembourg and beyond. TTM develops and implements translational research projects, from bench to bed to real life.  The Project Manager is in charge of translational, collaborative and multidisciplinary projects for fostering personalized medicine aiming at clinical development and integration into the Luxembourgish ecosystem and abroad. The main two projects of which the project manager will be responsible for are the Horizon 2020 Orchestra and CON-VINCE (COvid-19 National survey for assessing VIral spread by Non-affected CarriErs).

Key Accountabilities
  • Be a key link across TTM activities, in particular for the CON-VINCE and NCER-PD translational program, connecting the activities of the IBBL (biosample storage) with the activities at the LCSB (data stewardship).
  • Manage research projects, supporting program chair throughout the duration of each program, such as proposal submission, evaluation, reporting and communication, especially for Orchestra: Monitor all contractual obligations (Grant Agreement, Consortium Agreement and other legal documents) and prepare updates when necessary to ensure compliance with the Horizon 2020 rules and administrative procedures
  • Support in the development of scientific extensions to research programs, including international collaborations and integration of new technologies.
  • Organize and attend the program events, such as scientific symposia and annual program meetings, Project
  • Committees and Scientific Advisory Board meetings, developing innovative ways to enhance meeting interactions.
  • Follow the expenses at the project level (breakdown and transfer of funds, updating and monitoring of the budget, financial summary balance sheets, etc.).
  • Liaise with LIH support services to follow internal budget and to follow up on legal/regulatory issues.
    Manage research projects by overlooking reporting deadlines, by report writing per se and proposal submission.
  • Give input in scientific monitoring and scientific reporting to the Scientific Advisory/Steering Boards and the national/international funding agencies.
  • Be engaged in fundraising to gain further financial support by public and private funders.
  • Serve as contact person of relevant research projects.
  • Maintain networking with stakeholders in fundamental, clinical and translational research.
  • Perform any other tasks within the framework of the position.
  • Assist the TTM program portfolio manager in coordinating program processes along their life cycle.
  • Support with all organizational issues around the translational projects where required.

  • Master degree or equivalent in a biomedical discipline or closely related field.
  • At least 2 years experience in scientific or translational project management, including training/experience in European project management.
  • Good knowledge and experience (+2 years) of EC management rules in the framework of the Horizon 2020 framework program.
  • Good knowledge of the Luxembourgish research and medical landscape.
  • Detail-oriented, excellent organizational skills, ability to set priorities effectively, work effectively as an individual and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Confidence to interact with high-profile scientists and other stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and at least one of the following languages: German or French.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
