Background. Gliomas are malignant brain tumours that undergo cellular and molecular evolution during disease progression, which is only partially explained by genetic evolution, suggesting that transcriptional and epigenetic changes may be the basis of cellular adaptation processes. The international GLASS (Glioma Longitudinal AnalySiS) initiative, aims to systematically catalogue the temporal changes in gliomas at the genetic, epigenetic and transcriptomic levels. In this context, NORLUX aims to assess differential functional drug responses of primary versus recurrent gliomas.

Objectives. Based on this broader context, the NORLUX lab is looking for a computational scientist with strong interest in cancer biology to conduct an integrative multiomics data analysis (DNA-Seq, methylation, RNA-Seq), linking the results to pharmacogenomics outcomes. The objective is to identify differences in drug sensitivity in paired longitudinal tumours and predict personalized treatment options for recurrent glioma patients.

Training and research environment. The NORLUX lab is a dynamic, multinational and interdisciplinary team focusing on the biology of malignant brain tumours. It is a part of the Department of Oncology and uses cutting-edge technologies, including genomic, metabolomic and proteomic analyses, single cell technologies (single cell RNA-Seq, CYTOF, Imagestream) as well as state-of-the-art preclinical models. The project will be performed in collaboration with the international GLASS consortium (www.glass-consortium.org/). The post-doctoral fellow will be supported through a FNR CORE funded project and will join an interdisciplinary project team, including cellular and molecular biologists, animal experts, bioinformaticians and statisticians. KEY SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • PhD in computational biology, bioinformatics, genomics, systems biology, molecular biology or a related field.
  • Prior experience in cancer research is an asset.
  • Expertise in computational and statistical analysis of at least two of the considered technologies (RNA-Seq, methylation, DNA-Seq) is required. Experience in analysis of single cell RNA-Seq data is an asset.
  • Understanding of common bioinformatics approaches and extensive experience with one of the main programming languages for data analysis (R, Python). Knowledge in other programming languages and data analysis tools is an asset.
  • Independent and self-motivated person, scientific creativity and originality, strong team spirit and collaborative capacity, excellent time management, rigor, perseverance, strong writing skills.
  • Fluency in English is mandatory.
