The Cancer Metabolism Group (Head: Dr. Johannes Meiser)within the Department of Oncology ofLIH, is currently looking for a Technician/Lab Manager to strengthen ourteam.  Established in September 2018, thegroup is currently composed of three PhD students and two postdoctoral fellows.We are focusing our research efforts towards a detailed understanding of therole of metabolism in health and disease with a special emphasis ononco/immuno-metabolism.

We are seeking a highly motivated Laboratory Technician/Lab Manager to support our ongoing projects by maintaining and overseeing the lab infrastructure, but also, by contributing with own experiments. The candidate will join a team of very motivated scientists in a stimulating environment participating in diverse state of the art research projects including different national and international collaborations.


Key Accountabilities
  • Establish new protocols and generate validated SOPs
  • Build a knowledge hub on available protocols and tools and transfer this knowledge to researchers within the group
  • Monitor the equipment, notify potential technical defaults and coordinate maintenance/repair where necessary
  • Monitor and maintain stocks of consumable materials
  • Keep current databases updated and find solutions to manage information efficiently if needed
  • Carry out independent experiments
  • Analyze and report results and be able to engage by discussing results and suggesting new ideas
  • Ability to coordinate ongoing lab activities in conjunction with the Principal Investigator.
KEY SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • Laboratory Technician’s diploma or alternative qualification (e.g. Masters degree in biomedical sciences)
  • Hands-on experience in experimental lab work including the use of mammalian cell models
  • Knowledge in the area of Metabolism will be an advantage
  • Rigor, efficiency, team player, self-driven motivation, initiative taking, punctual and reliable, ability to think ahead
  • Willing to join a young and dynamic team
  • Fluent command of English (written and spoken)
