Laboratory technician - CD0618

The Laboratory  Technician will join the LIH’s HIV Clinical and Translational Research team, Infectious diseases Research Unit.  She/He will perform experiments on a specific project and carry out broader tasks.  She/He will also suggest initiatives to resolve or prevent technical problems in consultation with the project leader.

Key accountabilities
  • Carry out experiments in the research unit

  • Take care of the mice in the vivarium and carry out animal biology experiments

  • Analyse and report results to the project leader

  • Monitor the equipment, notify potential technical  defaults to the head of unit or to project leaders

  • Monitor stocks of consumable materials (reception and storage of deliveries, drafting of purchase orders to be signed by the designated persons, research of information on the products to be ordered, etc.)

  • Be able to learn new laboratory techniques required for a project

  • Where necessary suggest areas for improvement for the protocols to be followed

  • Laboratory Technician Diploma (three years' higher education required) or Master degree
  • Practical experience in areas of tissue culture, molecular biology, immunohistology, Flow cytometry  and virology
  • Expertise and Know-how in the generation and HIV infection of humanized mouse models and hematopoietic stem cell culture and isolation
  • Experience in experiments on mice. Felasa B is required
  • Rigor, strong work discipline, team player, motivation, initiative taking, punctual, realiable
  • Language skills: fluent command of English, knowledge of another language of the European Union is an asset
