The IT Network & Security Administrator assists the ITManager in ensuring the performance and high availability of LIH’s IT networkand infrastructure. He/She will provide support in the effective provisioning,installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems software andhardware and related infrastructure and also suggest better IT solutions inorder to help internal clients (Administrative and Technical Services or headsof research projects) implement their objectives.

Key Accountabilities
  • Establish network specifications by conferring with users; analyzing workflow, access, information, and security requirements; designing router administration, including interface configuration and routing protocols.
  • Secure network by developing network access, monitoring, control, and evaluation; maintaining documentation.
  • Develop internal procedures validated by the IT Manager (architecture design, technical documentation, operating modes, etc.).
  • Install, assemble, configure, manage and maintain LIH systems software, hardware and related infrastructure.
  • Establish network by evaluating network performance issues including availability, utilization, throughput, goodput, and latency; planning and executing the selection, installation, configuration, and testing of equipment; defining network policies and procedures.
  • Participate in projects and teams as assigned by the IT Manager and perform associated tasks.
  • Maintain network performance by performing network monitoring and analysis, and performance tuning; troubleshooting network problems; escalating problems to vendor.
  • Communicate efficiently with the IT Admin team, and IT Helpdesk team (need or escalation), and ensure proper change management through communication with users.
  • Analyze the needs and the restraints related to the IT infrastructures and suggest innovative and relevant solutions to the research units.
  • Research and recommend innovative, and where possible, automated approaches for system administration tasks. Identify approaches that provide economies of scale. 
KEY SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master degree in Information Technology (preferably in networking/security field)
  • Previous professional experience of at least 5 years in a similar position
  • Good organizational and relational skills and analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Good knowledge of the following:
    -    Brands: Palo Alto, Fortigate, F5 (Loadbalancing/Proxy), Cisco, etc.
    -    Concepts: AD/LDAP, Radius, 802.1x, Antispam, Reverse proxy, DNS, SNMP, Cacti, Network Access Control, VPN (IPSec/SSL), IPS/IDS, etc.
    -    Network: DWDM (multiplexing), VLAN, Routing, QoS, Firewalling, Sandboxing, Certificates (PKI), RSTP, WiFi, etc.
  • Language skills: fluent in French and English (written and oral)
  • General skills: customer service skills, ability to work under pressure, writing skills, disaster planning, troubleshooting skills, learning skills
  • Specific skills: network performance tuning, deep network knowledge, network design and implementation, problem solving, strategic planning, multi-tasking, quality focus, coordination, technical understanding, quick study, technical zeal
  • Certifications are an asset (CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, etc.).
