Facilities Technician - KB0918

Under the responsibility of the Biorepository Team Leader, the Facilities Technician is responsible for the technical maintenance of the IBBL facilities and the management of equipment which is under the responsibility of the Biorepository. All related tasks must be executed in line with operational and quality requirements.(S)He is also responsible for co-ordinating the work of contractors, e.g. defining the specifications of the work to be done, requesting quotations and monitoring the work on IBBL premise.

Key Accountabilities
  • Ensure building infrastructure is compliant with legal and operational requirements and is operational at all times
  • For the equipment within the scope of this function (e.g: freezers, LN2 tanks,..) : Contribute to the definition of equipment specification, selection and purchase/ Perform equipment registration and installation, maintain the equipment inventory / plan & perform maintenance, maintain a maintenance schedule / Prepare equipment for shipment (e.g.cryoshipper, lab20,…) /Solve equipment malfunction / Decommission equipement as needed/ Ensure equipment management in compliance with QMS / Solve technical and/or equipment issues, interpreting operational manuals, establishing the best solution for a problem
  • Perform daily patrol to ensure infrastructure and equipment integrity and well-functioning
  • Communicate technical issues to contractors and ensure issues are resolved and documented
  • Undertake the management of gas stock, including liquid nitrogen, and ensure supply for IBBL
  • Ensure waste management:collection, removal and traceability, including annual report
  • Participate in the writing of Work Instructions, Standard Operating Instructions, Nonconformity reports and recommendations for corrective/ preventive actions (CAPA) 
  • Technical school education (Electrotechnical, Electromecanical degree or equivalent)
  • Ability to work on electrical, mechanical and service procedures
  • Min. 5 years of experience, ideally  in an ISO certified environment (or similar)
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
  • Excellent sense of organization and good priority management abilities
  • Problem solving skills: analyse the situation, define and compare a range of options
  • Highly flexible :  able to adapt quickly in stress conditions
  • Computer skills : Pack office
  • Language Skills : Must speak and write English and French or German
  • Previous work experience in Industrial maintenance would be an advantage.
  • Knowledge of metrology and its application in a testing laboratory is an asset
