Epidemiologist - SC1120

The Department of Population Health (DoPH) is aninterdisciplinary department that focuses on research in epidemiology, publichealth and clinical research across a wide range of fields. The DoPH overseesepidemiological studies, clinical trials, and experimental investigations ofchronic diseases. To reinforce its team within the DoPH, the Public HealthExpertise (PHE) Unit has an opening for an experienced epidemiologist to work on the OSCOUR-Lux project for the establishment of a syndromic surveillance systems for public health surveillance.

Key Accountabilities
  • Provide technical support for the development¬† of an early warning system for detection, verification and response to public health incidents.
  • Participate in data analysis and production of statistical reports.
  • Prepare reports and factsheets, and ensure dissemination of results.
  • Develop the Data Management Plan and the statistical analysis plans.
  • Write and update technical and operational tools (CodeBook, recording manual, operating procedures, technical protocols, patients leaflets)
  • Ensure the quality of data (Undertake monitoring visits and report them, define the database quality checks).
  • Develop and maintains contacts with the stakeholders involved in the project.
  • Become aware of the existing surveillance systems, both within Europe and in a global setting, and ensure adherence to international rules and classifications.
  • Manage the field data collection software.
  • Train the field staff involved in data collection.
  • Be the author or co-author of scientific papers related to the project.

KEY SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master/PhD in Public Health, in Epidemiology.
  • At least 5 year experience in the areas of research, data collection and epidemiological data processing.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Respect deadlines, be able to manage a significantly increased workload, accuracy.
  • Good organizational and relational skills, autonomy, responsibility, rigor.
  • Respect the professional secrecy and the confidentiality of all the information brought to his/her attention during the performance of his/her duties.
  • Respect the ethical standards and the code of good conduct that are generally accepted in the profession, regardless of whether they are enshrined in a legal text.
  • IT skills: SPSS, Microsoft office.
  • Language skills: Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing in French and good knowledge in English; knowledge of Luxembourgish/German would constitute an asset.
