The research-intensive program tackles next-generation cancer biology covering molecular mechanisms of tumour progression, treatment resistance and biomarker discovery. It focuses on tumour escape mechanisms, thus addressing the increasingly important clinical problem of tumour recurrence and drug resistance. The program includes transferable skill training, support in career development, scientific lectures by international speakers and annual PhD retreats.

PhD candidates will conduct their research project either at the Department of Oncology of the Luxembourg Institute of Health (LIH, Luxembourg) or at the Life Sciences Research Unit of the University of Luxembourg (Campus Belval, Esch- sur-Alzette). The PhD candidates will be enrolled at the doctoral school of the University of Luxembourg.

The program will allow the 4 selected candidates to obtain a PhD degree in life sciences, with a focus on
either brain cancer, colorectal cancer, melanoma or the tumor microenvironment.
