XPOSE

Doctoral Training in Exposome and Health

Navigating Complexity with Innovation

Exposome researcher of tomorrow

Xpose will focus on the training of PhD students on new approaches to tackle the complex question of the impact of the exposome on health. Our objective is to train the next generation of scientists in exposome research, in conjunction with existing Luxembourg and international resources. These future scientists need to have a broad interdisciplinary background, be capable of acting on the interface of scientific disciplines, understand the complexities of big and real-world data and use innovative knowledge and methods to harvest and analyse it, but also have a set of soft skills to interact efficiently with different types of actors and stakeholders.

The Xpose DTU will incorporate PhD students and supervisors with different scientific backgrounds (epidemiology, chemistry, biochemistry, biology, sports science, medicine, artificial intelligence, digital technologies, nutrition, social and environmental sciences) and thus strongly strengthen interdisciplinary cross-talk. The individual research topics of the DTU will all be on the interface of disciplines. Multidisciplinary collaborations within the programme and tailored training will ensure that the PhD students will develop a hybrid profile with skills in at least two or more domains and gain a holistic view of the scope of available methodologies in novel exposome and epidemiological research. Strategic partnering of the Supervisors with “complementary thematic experts” will allow the PhD students to acquire an in-depth understanding of the complexity of exposome research questions, from multiple angles.
