End of the first phase of the COVID-19 large-scale testing

29 Juli 2020 2minuten

The first phase of the COVID-19 large-scale testing campaign ended on Monday, July 27. By the end of the first phase, an almost full use of the testing capacity has been observed, with up to 16,000 tests performed per day.

Combined with contact tracing, large-scale testing is successfully helping stabilise the number of new COVID-19 infections in the currently ongoing second wave.

The second phase of the large-scale testing will be coordinated by the Health Directorate as of September and will be based on a modified strategy.

In the meantime, the Luxembourg Institute of Health (LIH) will continue the first phase of testing until the beginning of September. This will be done in a much more targeted way in order to meet specific needs during the holiday period. During this transition period, the following seven testing stations will therefore be put on standby and can be re-opened as needed:

  • Asselt_Roedt (Ersange)
  • Dippach_Greivelsbarrier_N5
  • Junglinster_PR
  • Machtum_Grevenmacher_N10
  • N17_Tandel_Bleesbreck (Diekirch)
  • Niederanven-Roodt/Syre_N1
  • P&R_Howald_CR231

Testing will continue at the other stations across the country:

  • Schieren_Colmar_N7
  • Parc_Hosingen
  • Luxembourg_P&R_Bouillon
  • Parking_Rond-point_Raemerich
  • Kirchberg_Parking_Adenauer
  • Frisange
  • P&R_Steinfort
  • Bascharage_ZI_Bommelscheuer
  • Rotondes_Luxembourg
